Goodbye Artillery

When he was 17, Richard joined the National Guard and was attached to an artillery unit, the 222nd Field Artillery Batallion.  His son is a member of that same unit now.  For 29 years, besides before we were married and a few at SUU ROTC, Richard has been an Artillery Officer. 

For the past two years he has been the commander of the 65th Fires Brigade.

Today he gave up command and will be taking a position on the General's Staff, but it's not artillery.

Richard is a wonderful officer and has loved the artillery, so this is a sad day for him, as he won't ever return to the artillery again. It's just the way it goes with military assignments, and he knew this day would come, but that didn't make it any easier.

Because this happened!  She finally lost that wiggly tooth.  Despite my efforts to shush, the excitement in the stands was obvious.  Luckily, it was during her daddy's speech and no one else's!
